Task ONE
Working during the holidays:
I'm a student and a part time worker. So, I know what it is like to work during my holidays. There are pros and cons. Everyone has their own reason to work or not to work.
Firstly, pros are arguments to promote the issue. The pros of this issue is that working during the holiday helps student to spend the their free time usefully instead of sitting at home and rot. Usually when I'm free at home, I'll just let the precious time pass by just like that. After I got the part time job, I spend my free time usefully. By working, I can gain experience, make new frineds, learn new skills, get to know what it is like to be in the working world, learn from others mistakes, making people happy, get paid and the list goes on and on. Everyday, I see people leave their food unfinished and we have no choice but to throw it away. From here, I can learn things like not to waste food and when I eat lunch/dinner with my friends/family, I can encourage them and myself not to waste food. We can spend the money that we earned with our own hands, on something useful like, pay school fees, get the things that we need, not want.
Secondly, cons are suggestions to against the issue. The cons of this issue is that when the student is working during his/her holiday, he/she will have less time to revise, do homeworks, rest and spend time with his/her family and friends. For instance, every time I came back from work, I'll be very tired and I'll just fall sleep or just sit there and take a rest and let my precious time pass by instead of spending my time doing my homeworks.
Singaporean students just do not realise how lucky are they to be born in Singapore. They have the government which helps them to pay school fees, all the enrichment classes, courses, newspapers or magazines through the edu-save but for foreigners we have to pay all those things from our parents pockets. If oneself has the ability to work, so why not just work and help his/her parents by paying his/her own school fees with his/her own money.
In conclusion, I think if oneself wants to work and he/she has the ability to work and can manage school and work, he/she can go ahead and work. Everything happens for a reason. If he/she is working or not working, I'm sure there is a very good reason behind it. =)
